Self – Revista do IJUSP: call for papers
Dear readers, authors and editors, greetings!
It has been just over a month after the launch of Self – Revista do IJUSP and we already got more than 400 views of the first published works. A number to be celebrated, without any doubt, and an amount that will continue to grow.
Thus, we call all of you to submit your articles: reflection essays, case studies, literature reviews and clinical or basic researches, because when we speak of scientific publications, the real contributions are the ones offered by the authors: Self awaits!
I take this opportunity to highlight some characteristics of the journal:
Self is an online one-volume-per-year journal: all the approved and published articles will make part of this year’s volume. Its publishing system allows items to be published independently as soon as they are approved by the reviewers and the scientific editor, that is, over the year-volume.
The main version of the article can be in Portuguese, Spanish or English. The editorial production of this main version –including language and references review, standardization and diagramming- entails no cost to authors.
Although it is not required, we strongly recommend articles whose main versions are in Portuguese or Spanish to be translated into English as it ensures accessibility to a greatest number of readers and a wide dissemination of content. The cost of the second version (and of an eventual and possible third version) is the responsibility of the authors.
The second version of the article already approved for other language must pass through a professional language review, word-for-word, with reviewers certified by the journal. For the sake of reliability, this second version should be a literal translation of the main article, without changes to the original content. As it is a literal version of the original article, the second version in another language does not have to be simultaneously published with the original version; it can be added to the journal later. We therefore ask authors to wait for the approval of the main version and then address the second version in another language; we also suggest them to contact the Editorial Secretariat before starting the translation.
Self is a journal committed to complying with the rules of formal control systems of the scientific world and is designed to be part of this world: indexing in controlling bodies will certainly come with the development of the journal, as it is willing to strictly follow the official models of scientific editorial assessment. Thus, the editorial policies should be read carefully and, if in doubt, authors should contact Débora Martins or Andrea Hespanha, responsible for the Editorial Secretariat. (Let me take this opportunity to highlight and thank Andrea and Débora’s always affectionate availability and recommend them to everyone).
I recall that the journal is trilingual: all its operational content (except, obviously, copyright documents) is published in Portuguese, Spanish and English, which, if we consider the increasing digital inclusion and the breadth of linguistic range, lets it project its free access to almost all of the literate population of the planet.
Besides being in search of the best of each Brazilian thinker and researcher who has the urge to disclose his thoughts or his research in the field of analytical psychology and related topics, Self expects to attract authors from other languages and countries, making a forum for introducing ideas, knowledge and worldviews as diverse and democratic as possible. We have the commitment of all of you to promoting the journal.
Although the registration in the electronic page of the journal is not a precondition to have access to articles, it is very important: the registered readers receive notifications about new published articles and can also closely monitor Self’s news.
The digital format of the journal enables features that are not possible or are restricted in printed versions, such as the large capacity (though not unlimited) for publishing images and even videos. For us, Jungian researchers, who revere the human iconography and the imagery nature of the deep psyche, the impact of these features looks very promising and creates a fertile ground that has not been experienced yet, except by very expensive printed books that bring high-quality images.
As suggested, Self is a channel through which something must flow, something precious: a content that, maintained by the subjective experience of each potential author, has the ability (and the responsibility) to organize and expand itself, taking on a new continent with present and future observers in countless numbers.
