English version of the paper "Mother's children - Mother's animus in the life of the son"
Self - Revista IJUSP publishes the English version of the article: "Mother's children - Mother's animus in the life of her children", by Irene Gaeta, professor of the psychology course at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. At the paper, Irene reflects on the "mother’s children", people born in a context of absence of the father figure. The author points out that there is a growth in the number of cases of families without the father, which can be understood as "concrete manifestations of the phenomenon of power and autonomy ̶ possibly narcissistic ̶ assumed by the woman." The paper discusses this "new society governed by the maternal complex" based on the " the principles of anima and animus proposed by Jung, considering that such principles explain the duality between sexes, on one hand, and give meaning to the experience itself, on the other. It also discusses the differentiation between the children of a woman with a structured ego and a good relation with his masculine side and the children of a woman with the animus acting autonomously.”
